Ergonomic Crochet Handle Hack

Hello you beautiful hookers. I have seen these wonderful ergonomic handled hooks out there, created by wood and glass artists. I just can't bring myself to pay $60 for a set no mater how pretty they are. Besides I have way more important uses for that money like acquiring every single color of yarn, or doing my best to try. I may be a Yarn Addict, but that is a discussion for another time.

This post explains my handle hack which saved my hand and money (well not really since I spent the $$ on YARN ).

Here is my hack to create ergonomic handles out of 3-4 pencil toppers.. Yep, you read correctly, I said pencil toppers.

Hook Handle Hack Instructions

You will need:

- a drill

- a Phillips head drill bit

- a Phillips head screw

and
- Fiddle/ fidget/ spiked ball pencil toppers (I got 12 toppers for $5 the last time I bought them)
 - a crochet hook of your preferred size (pictured is a 1.5mm steel hook)

Step One - insert the screw into the opening for the pencil

Step Two - screw in until you can feel the tip on the opposite side of the topper.

Step Three - Remove the screw.

Step Four - Proper ball placement:

I will use this 1.75mm hook to the right as my example...
I placed the the large pencil openings for the outside (yellow) balls facing the center (pink) ball, creating a clean finished look at both ends of the ergonomic handle.

For my larger hooks (US size G and greater), I opted to use a drill bit instead of a screw. I still made sure the hole was smaller than the hook for a tight snug fit.

Well that's it!

Off my pretty little hookers, off you go to use your improved hooks to create yarn master pieces.
